Savannah Bloch is an American/South African filmmaker originally from San Diego, CA and Cape Town, South Africa. She graduated from the USC School of Cinematic Arts in 2009 and presently teaches 16mm cinematography in the USC MFA Production Program. Savannah has worked in the industry for 15 years as a producer, director, writer, cinematographer, and theater director with an endless appetite for storytelling.
Her feature film directorial debut, And Then There Was Eve, won a 2017 Jury Award at the Los Angeles Film Festival and was distributed by Breaking Glass Pictures in March 2019. As a digital director, Savannah created 50+ mini-documentaries for Hearst Digital Media and over 300 videos for global medical education.
In 2018 Savannah pivoted to cinematography full time. Savannah shot the award-winning feature film Quality Problems and works consistently with brands such as Us Weekly, Monster Energy, TLC, and Netflix. Most recently winning an Emmy Award for her work on a Netflix Maya and The Three promotional campaign with Kali Uchis. She is also ICG Local 600 as a Director of Photography.
In 2014, Savannah studied stage directing in NYC at The Barrow Group and afterwards honed her skills as an actor’s director in two plays. One is a dark comedy about a dysfunctional family and the second probes the post-9/11 Sikh experience. Savannah runs weekly director and writing workshops in Hollywood called Sandbox.la and fosters a growing community of creatives.
She thrives in the music video and live performance space often collaborating with singer/songwriter Kerry Hart and queer pop artist Zolita on over 15 music videos amassing over 100 million views.
Savannah is a women’s sports enthusiast with both Angel City FC and WNBA Sparks season tickets. One of her favorite projects was a documentary on NWSL’s first Native American player, Madison Hammond. When not shooting, Savannah can be found traveling the world seeking the perfect surf break.
